ReFocus is an early intervention domestic abuse programme designed to tackle first time or potential offenders. ReFocus closely supports victims and intervenes early in more cases where a partner is identified as displaying abusive behaviour.
The programme acts quickly to challenge and put a stop to perpetrators’ behaviours by diverting them on to a specialist programme. The focus on early stage intervention intervening is with the aim that families, partners and future partners of domestic abuse perpetrators will be protected from further harm.
Tailored support plans highlight the harm domestic abuse does to relationships and families, and helps address behaviours that contribute to violence, such as addiction, anger management, emotional wellbeing and mental health. A parallel course and support for victims runs alongside the perpetrator programme.
The programme is funded by the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner. We work in partnership DMAT Services for delivery of the course.
