Margaret's background is in service development and management.

As well as senior managerial roles in the NHS, Margaret was Director of Operations at the Refugee Council, and Director of Service Development at the British Red Cross.

"A number of my roles have brought me into contact with people seeking sanctuary, including survivors of trafficking. I am particularly interested in advocacy, and this was a key part of my roles at the Refugee Council and the British Red Cross.

I am now retired but I am a trustee/member of a number of organisations including the Detention Forum, where I can continue to advocate on behalf of people seeking sanctuary in the UK. I wanted to be a trustee of Causeway because I am strongly committed to supporting marginalised and vulnerable people to live their best lives, and I can see this is at the core of what this charity does."
